Aleph Farms lays the foundation towards soft launch of its cultivated beef steak and has entered first phase in construction of its BioFarm™
Today marks a significant milestone for Aleph Farms — we are moving towards scale. Introducing a prototype of our first commercial cultivated steak. This prototype was cultivated using our proprietary platform which is now ready to grow steaks at our BioFarms™.
Our steaks, grown directly from non-GMO cells of a happily living cow, boast the nutritional, culinary, and sensory attributes of the meat we know and now, thanks to our new production capabilities, it will be the same cost too. Since we shared our proof-of-concept in 2018, not only have we increased the size of our slaughter-free steaks, we have adapted it to fit controlled, automated bioprocesses to ensure economic viability in large-scale production.
This achievement represents a major step towards our goal of making cultivated meat widely available in the global community. Next in terms of our priorities is the transition of our proprietary platform to a pilot BioFarm™, followed by our product’s pilot launch in 2022.
“One of the big challenges of cultivated meat is the ability to produce large quantities efficiently at a cost that can compete with conventional meat industry pricing, without compromising on quality,” says Didier Toubia, Co-Founder and CEO of Aleph Farms. “We have developed five technological building blocks unique to Aleph Farms that are put into a large-scale production process, all patented by the company.”
